Bureau Veritas relies on SimulationX
Torsional vibrations are a constant issue on marine propulsion or generator systems onboard ships. Excitation coming from diesel engines or from propeller leads to unavoidable resonance on some equipments. The system has to be carefully studied in order to prevent any failure. The role of Bureau Veritas, a world leader in conformity assessment and certification services, is to ensure that all equipments will have vibratory levels within manufacturer and rules limits. It is therefore necessary to follow the manufacturer progress and to take into account precisely new technological components and their characteristics.
For this challenges Bureau Veritas relies on SimulationX. With the library ‘Torsional Vibration Analysis’, adapted to fit Bureau Veritas’ needs, systems can be modeled effciently, taking into account requirements such as rule limitations, misfiring, pressure curves and propeller law. All models can be parameterized in a user-friendly manner and are more in accordance with information available from manufacturers, and calculations performed provide precise results being less conservative.
