The software products Isight and SIMULIA Execution Engine (formerly Fiper) by the French company Dassault Systèmes are used for combining, harmonizing and automating simulation models and tools within a coherent workflow. The resulting design environment allows for detailed analyses to identify the optimal design parameters within the boundaries of defined conditions. The SimulationX interface component permits the integration of SimultionX models into Isight enabling a convenient way to configure design parameters as well as results within the Isight Design Gateway. In that way, it is possible to apply methods for the statistical design of experiments (DOE), optimizations, approximations and the Design for Six Sigma (DfSS). Due to this automatic interaction between Isight and SimulationX, the time spent on developing virtual prototypes can be reduced significantly.
modeFRONTIER from ESTECO srl (Italy) is a multi objective optimization and design environment with an easy coupling to SimulationX. It provides an environment which allows engineers and designers to integrate their CAE tools, such as CAD, FEM or CFD. Using a variety of state-of-the-art optimization techniques, ranging from gradient-based methods to genetic algorithms, the process or design of interest can be optimized by specifying objectives and defining variables which affect factors such as geometric shape and operating conditions. The software in effect becomes a wrapper around the CAE tool, performing the optimization by modifying the value assigned to the input variables, and monitoring the outputs.
As a consequence of ever shorter development cycles companies are increasingly using CA tools for the product development. In order to meet quality requirements of virtual prototyping, Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) and Robust Design Optimization (RDO) have been combined with SimulationX to identify and optimize design and process issues under manufacturing and environmental conditions. The optiSLang connection node provides a powerful interface to SimulationX for easy and efficient integration of model simulation, (multi) objective optimization, robustness studies, reliability analysis, detecting the importance of parameters or to build meta-models.
The software application OptiY by OptiY GmbH (Germany) is a multidisciplinary design environment providing state-of-the-art optimization strategies and state of the art probabilistic algorithms for uncertainty, reliability, robustness and sensitivity analyses, data mining and meta-modeling. Simulation models can be treated as black boxes with input and output variables making the program an open platform for various kinds of model classes. OptiY offers an integrated SimulationX interface.
